Executive Vice President, BBC Worldwide Productions
As Executive Vice President, BBC Worldwide Productions, Matt Forde heads the company’s Los Angeles-based studio. His team develops and produces entertainment, unscripted, and scripted content including BBC and Indie reformats, as well as new and original shows for linear and digital platforms. He reports to Ann Sarnoff, President, BBC Worldwide Americas.
Forde has worked closely with producers and broadcasters for most of his career. He was part of BBC Worldwide’s Indie Unit in 2004 and then ran the commercial relationship between BBC Productions and BBC Worldwide from 2006 – 2009.
In 2009, Forde moved to the U.S., joining BBC Worldwide Americas as Executive Vice President, Co-Productions, Sales and Digital Distribution. He played an integral role in rapidly growing the company’s co-production and sales division across the U.S., Latin America, and Canada, while continuing to work closely with UK and BBC producers to bring their projects to the U.S. He was at the forefront of developing longstanding relationships with Netflix, Hulu, Apple, and Amazon, amongst others, and overseeing early co-production deals with Hulu on shows like The Wrong Mans and bringing Happy Valley exclusively to Netflix in the U.S.
In 2017, Forde relocated to Los Angeles. Under his direction as studio head, BBC Worldwide Productions delivered two important BBC global franchise benchmarks – the 25th season of Dancing with the Stars for ABC and a fresh U.S. Top Gear reformat, Top Gear America, for BBC AMERICA. In scripted, BBC Worldwide Productions is credited as producer of the Golden Globe®-nominated and Emmy® award-winning limited series The Night Of for HBO, based on BBC One’s Criminal Justice, starring John Turturro and Riz Ahmed. Unscripted originals under the Adjacent Productions label include Ladies of London for Bravo, as well as Port Protection and the Emmy® award-winning Life Below Zero, both for National Geographic Channel.
